International Journalists Association Awarded European Solidarity Corps Quality Label

Share

The International Journalists Association (IJA), based in Frankfurt, Germany, has received the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Quality Label, a certification recognising organisations that meet the European Union’s standards for implementing volunteering and solidarity activities.

The announcement, published on 3 September 2026, confirms that IJA has met the programme’s quality requirements. The certification enables the association to participate in international volunteering initiatives within the European Solidarity Corps framework.

What Has Been Achieved?

By obtaining the Quality Label, IJA has demonstrated its capacity to organise volunteering activities in accordance with the principles and standards of the European Solidarity Corps.

The European Solidarity Corps is an EU programme that enables young people aged 18 to 30 to participate in volunteering and solidarity activities. These initiatives provide opportunities to gain practical experience, develop skills and contribute to communities in different countries.

The Quality Label is an important requirement for organisations wishing to participate in the programme. It confirms that an organisation meets the necessary standards for supporting young volunteers and delivering appropriate volunteering activities.

The certification does not automatically provide project funding. Organisations must follow the relevant application procedures to obtain financial support for specific projects.

What Does This Mean for IJA?

According to the association’s announcement, the certification will enable IJA to expand its involvement in European volunteering programmes, establish international partnerships and develop projects involving young people from different countries.

These opportunities may include volunteering initiatives that encourage intercultural exchange, international cooperation and the development of practical and social skills.

IJA has also announced its intention to develop new activities under the European Solidarity Corps and share further information about upcoming opportunities.

Further Information

The European Solidarity Corps is implemented through the European Union’s youth programmes and supported by national agencies in participating countries.

In Germany, the programme is implemented through JUGEND für Europa, the national agency responsible for Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps.
