The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has announced that it will deliver its decision today regarding the application of journalist Hidayet Karaca, who has been imprisoned since December 14, 2014.
VIOLATION DECISION EXPECTED
The ECHR, which prioritizes journalists’ cases and accordingly ruled on the applications made by Mehmet Altan and Şahin Alpay within 1 year, Cumhuriyet Newspaper writers within 3 years, and Ahmet Altan, Atilla Taş, and Nazlı Ilıcak within 4 years, will announce its decision on the application of Hidayet Karaca, a journalist and head of a media group, after almost 8 years.
The ECHR is expected to issue a violation decision for Hidayet Karaca, as it has done in other detention cases.
JUSTICE MARCH IN FRONT OF ECHR TODAY
Meanwhile, a justice march will take place today in front of the ECHR “’s building in Strasbourg, France”, with the participation of thousands of people, mostly those affected by statutory decrees, seeking rights and justice for millions of victims in Turkey “”.
A letter will also be presented to the ECHR “, which has been criticized for not raising sufficient voice against the unlawful practices in Turkey”, demanding immediate action for the victims and the prompt establishment of delayed justice.
