The Dicle Firat Journalists Association (DFG) released its monthly report on rights violations against the press and press workers.
The January report, which stated that 88 journalists were imprisoned, noted that four journalists were detained and one was arrested.
The statement, which noted that the judiciary was being used as a stick against press workers, said, “A news report, an interview taken, a video or photograph captured can still be grounds for arrest. We reiterate our call once again; all imprisoned journalists should be released without delay. As persistent as the government is in controlling journalism, we are equally persistent in protecting our profession”.
