Thousands of victims are preparing to make another call for justice to the European Court of Human Rights.
Many thousands are expected to participate in the upcoming march.
Preparations have begun for this year’s action, which will be organized under the leadership of the Peaceful Action Platform.
The suspension of law following July 15 has caused the victimization of millions. Despite 7 years passing, issues such as evidence without legal validity, people dismissed from their jobs without investigation, closed institutions, silenced press, and many other unlawful practices have not fallen off Turkey’s agenda.
The violations of rights continue to come to the world’s attention.
Due to the politicization of the Turkish judiciary, victims are finding recourse in the European Court of Human Rights.
The slow processing of cases by the court, which has taken up the cases, sometimes causes reactions.
Thousands of people who want to draw attention to the seriousness of the situation will call for justice to the ECtHR.
Last year’s first march to the ECtHR had made a big impact.
So what had happened?
Thousands of people participating in the historic march to the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of millions who suffered rights violations in Turkey tried to make their voices heard to the ECtHR with slogans and banners they carried.
A protester wearing a snail costume said, “Even I am faster than you, ECtHR,” reacting to the delay in justice. The costume became the symbol of the demonstration.
An important application was also made during the action held in front of the ECtHR on June 24, 2022, on behalf of hundreds of thousands who suffered rights violations in Turkey. On behalf of the Peaceful Actions Platform, former diplomat Rumi Ünal presented a letter to ECtHR President Spano, requesting “action to be taken for the victims in Turkey and for the ECtHR to establish the delayed justice as soon as possible.”
